(MCALLEN) — The McAllen Bulldogs overcame an 11-point deficit and went on to defeat Mission High 49-45 on Tuesday night at McAllen High School.
The fifth ranked Bulldogs ended their two game losing streak and improve to 5-2 in District 30-5A with the win.
Mission (2-5, 12-14) looked solid in the first half as they were hot from the three-point line and took a 25-16 lead into the half. The Eagles connected on 5-three pointers through the first two quarters with three of them coming in the second quarter alone. Ricky Martinez led the Eagles offense in the first half as he connected on three of his four-three point shots and finished the evening with a game-high 16 points.
“I think the boys were kind of shocked at how well the Eagles came out shooting the ball and we took a while to get going,” said McAllen head coach Ryan Flores. “In the first half, we were just settling for outside shots and were not aggressive toward the basket.
